Coda Bakery offers an authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine right in the heart of Albuquerque. Specializing in both a Vietnamese restaurant and bakery experience, Coda Bakery is a vibrant culinary gem that draws locals and visitors alike with its fresh, flavorful dishes and inviting atmosphere. Located conveniently at 201 San Pedro Dr SE Suite B1, the space balances a casual, bustling vibe perfect for quick lunches or leisurely meals that showcase Vietnam’s rich culinary traditions.
At the core of Coda Bakery’s menu, the Bahn Mi sandwiches stand out as an absolute must-try. Sinks your teeth into the Grilled Lemongrass Pork Banh Mi and you’re met with the perfect harmony of succulent, tender pork infused with fragrant lemongrass, crisp pickled vegetables, and a crunchy, freshly baked baguette that delivers just the right balance of chewiness and flakiness. The house-made Tofu Bahn Mi offers a delightful vegetarian alternative, with fried tofu flavored carefully with lemongrass and chile flakes, wrapping layers of texture and spice in every bite. Customer reviews consistently praise the freshness and flavor, with Robert Houtman calling it “the best banh mi I have had” and Cuong Tran naming Coda one of his absolute favorite places for this quintessential Vietnamese sandwich.
Beyond the iconic banh mi, Coda’s menu is a treasure trove of Vietnamese culinary delights. From the light and refreshing Shrimp Spring Rolls served with savory peanut sauce to the aromatic Bun Thit Nuong — a vermicelli noodle bowl topped with grilled pork and fresh herbs — every dish is thoughtfully prepared to excite the palate. Meanwhile, their rice dishes like the Combo Pork Chop Rice Dish, featuring marinated grilled pork chop with jasmine rice and an overeasy egg, deliver a comforting and satisfying experience that feels both homemade and elevated.
The bakery selection adds an extra layer of indulgence to the visit. The flaky, fragrant Banh Nho pastry bursting with raisins and shredded coconut is a sweet, delicate treat, perfectly complemented by stellar drinks like the iconic Vietnamese Iced Coffee and the tropical, creamy Avocado Smoothie with Boba. Something as simple as a Coconut Waffle becomes a revelation here, balancing subtle sweetness with a crisp texture that lingers delightfully on the tongue.
Many patrons also rave about the efficient, friendly service, even during peak hours. Todd I shared how despite the lunchtime rush, the line moved quickly and the staff remained upbeat and efficient, making the entire dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The overall ambiance encourages casual socializing or a quick bite to fuel your day, with a vibe that’s lively without overwhelming.
Coda Bakery doesn’t just serve food; it offers a sensory journey through Vietnam’s culinary landscape, carefully crafted with quality ingredients, bold flavors, and heart. Whether you’re craving a hearty, savory banh mi, seeking a refreshing smoothie pairing, or wanting to explore unique rice dishes and tropical coffees, Coda promises authenticity and a welcoming spirit that will make you want to return again and again. A true Albuquerque treasure for anyone eager to taste Vietnam’s best flavors in a warm, inviting setting.
This was the best banh mi I have had. Fantastic flavor and the bread is super fresh. I got the pork and it was terrific. Highly recommended.
My co-workers and I ordered Coda for lunch and had it delivered. It was my first time having Coda bakery, and it was delicious. The prices are totally reasonable for what you get and everything was fresh. I look forward to trying something new next time.
Driving through town I decided to try this place. Happy I did. I tried the house made Tofu Bahn Mi sandwich, a Shrimp and Pork Roll with Peanut sauce and a Sesame Ball. I also bought a CheDau Trang (a rice dessert with a coconut sauce topping) and a Thai Tea out of the fridge. Everything was delicious. Did not disappoint. If you are in the area this is a must try.
Outstanding! We went at lunchtime and they were rocking busy…however the line moved very quickly. The crew was very efficient. We live 3 1/2hrs away and sought them out after seeing them on DDD. Glad we did, and we will certainly return.
One of my favorite Banh Mi places to go in America! Travel quite a bit for business and when I travel to ABQ for business I always stop by for a stuffed Banh Mi sandwich. Coda never disappoints and always seem to have the best sandwiches and service. If you are ever in the mood to have a taste of Vietnam, then come visit Coda when in ABQ.
Being from a city with tons of Vietnamese restaurants, let me tell you… Coda Bakery does it right every time I visit! The portions are generous, and everything is absolutely delicious. I was a bit skeptical of the prices at first, but they’re completely justified by the quality and quantity of the food. I always recommend this place to friends and family.
Food was absolutely delicious with many options to choose from. This place is truly a gem for Vietnamese food in Albuquerque. The only downside is that there is not much seating inside at times, especially for larger families.
The new location is substantially larger, well lit, and has ample safe parking! Their food continues to be of excellent quality, fresh daily and if you have the taste buds for it simply delicious. I cannot recommend this business enough for a quick bite in the new store or best yet a great take-home meal.
